TAIPEI, Taiwan – October 28, 2025 – LINE Taiwan held its annual press conference, LINE CONVERGE 2025, on October 22 where it announced its three core strategies for the future: “Technological innovation”, focusing on how AI agent technology will be integrated across all the company’s services; “Co-creation,” which is about bringing partners of all sizes to work together developing services for the LINE MINI App platform; and “Interactive experience”, which will see the launch of a membership program that will feature more content for users as well as interactive content.

The company also unveiled plans to strengthen digital safety within Taiwan through enhanced public-private collaborations aimed at fraud prevention. Furthermore, LINE marked a milestone in its effort to globalize local IPs, with LINE WEBTOON’s first Taiwanese original webtoon-based series “The Black Box (黑盒子)” set to premiere simultaneously on LINE TV and Netflix on October 31.

“LINE Taiwan has defined AI as the core driver of its future direction,” said Roger Chen, CEO of LINE Taiwan, during his keynote address. “We are actively introducing AI agents across all our services, as well as working with partners throughout Taiwan to spark a new wave of technology and innovation. At the same time, we are further enhancing our fraud-prevention systems through collaboration with government and industry partners to strengthen the digital resilience of Taiwan.”
At LINE Taiwan’s annual press conference, LINE CONVERGE 2025, the company announced AI as the core driver of its strategic direction, with future plans based on three pillars — technological innovation, interactive experience, and co-creation.
Technological Innovation: The Arrival of the AI Agent Era
At LINE Converge, LINE Taiwan introduced two new AI assistant services. First, the AI Conversation Assistant will be integrated into LINE Official Account and OA Plus, utilizing its capabilities to understand natural language to enable retail, dining, and other brands to quickly build intelligent chat services. It is planned to launch in the first quarter of 2026. Second, the Travel Assistant will use generative AI to provide personalized travel experiences, supporting users through the entire journey, from inspiration to itinerary planning. The destination recommendation service for Japan will launch first in early November, and the service will be further integrated into LINE’s travel features starting in the first quarter of 2026.

LINE Taiwan’s Engineer Department continues to advance localized generative AI technology by combining large language models (LLMs) with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) to enhance customer service and by introducing MCP (Model Context Protocol) to evolve chatbots into proactive collaborative agents. The company also collaborates closely with partners to strengthen the AI ecosystem. For example, it launched Podcast TODAY, featuring AI-generated dual-anchor news narration trained on Taiwanese accents, and introduced the AI Voice Reservation 2.0, enabling users to make restaurant reservations through LINE Official Accounts via human-like voice responses, accelerating AI adoption in everyday life.

Co-Creation: Platform Expansion and Globalization of Local IPs
To realize the value of co-creation, the LINE MINI App platform will officially transition from an application-based to a fully open model in the fourth quarter of 2025, attracting broader participation from developers and businesses. Key upgrades include the launch of MINI Home on October 22 as an optimized service entry point and the release of LINE Touch, a sensing device, scheduled for the first half of 2026. The business model will also be expanded with in-app payment and in-app advertising revenue-sharing options to build an open ecosystem for shared growth.

LINE’s local co-creation projects have already gained much recognition. The boy band audition program “SCOOL”, won the Best Director (Program Category) award at the 60th Golden Bell Awards. Another project, “Shipwrecks Taiwan (沈睡的水下巨人),” was nominated for three awards at the 2025 Asian Creative Academy Awards, including Best Documentary and Best Director (Non-Fiction). The most anticipated milestone, however, comes from LINE WEBTOON’s first Taiwanese original webtoon-based series “The Black Box,” which will premiere simultaneously on LINE TV and Netflix on October 31, symbolizing the successful globalization of Taiwan’s creative IP. Additionally, LINE Taiwan announced the launch of the “LINE Sustainable Sticker Co-Creation Program,” empowering creators to collaborate with corporations through character IPs to communicate on sustainability topics and expand social impact.

Interactive Experience: Enhancing User Experience and Deepening Local Connections
LINE Taiwan will launch its new LINE Premium membership program in the first half of 2026, priced at TWD 165 per month. The service will offer five enhanced messaging features (including advanced backup) and four exclusive benefits across LINE’s services in the first phase. LINE TV has also been upgraded with new offline viewing and a dual subtitle features as of October and introduced new multi-user subscription plans for two or four users, alongside the existing individual plan. The content will be expanded with more Japanese dramas, anime, and variety programs in the fourth quarter of 2025.

LINE TODAY has been upgraded into an interactive content platform. The Social Feed feature, launched in August, transforms comments into anonymous posts, and has already surpassed 500 million impressions (as of October 12). To promote high-quality discussions, LINE TODAY introduced official verification badges for selected opinion leaders. It also integrated AI Summary feature to allow users to view diverse perspectives for more inclusive public conversations. Since July, LINE TODAY has also offered real-time baseball statistics for Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), with user counts for a single-game surpassing 50,000.

In gaming, the LINE POINTS GAME has exceeded 1 million downloads. The new title “LINE Walk(LINE 散步趣)” will launch in mid-November. It gamifies daily walking and commuting, encouraging users to earn LINE Points through missions. For talent development and regional revitalization, the LINE FRESH campus competition attracted over 900 students from 65 schools nationwide, forming 227 teams focused on social-emotional well-being and human connection. The LINE Digital Revitalization Project expanded to Pingtung County in southern Taiwan, where local stores saw an average increase of 43% in the number of friends added. In addition, the “Sustainable Pingtung Gift Mall” on LINE Giftshop will launch in November in partnership with the county government.

Public-Private Collaboration: Strengthening the Anti-Fraud Protection Network
To strengthen user security, LINE Taiwan has developed an automated reporting system enabling government and law enforcement agencies to report suspicious accounts within one second. The joint protection network spans both public and private sectors, including e-commerce and gaming industries, the Taipei Computer Association, and multiple government agencies including the Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Criminal Investigation Bureau, the National Police Agency, the Ministry of Justice, the Financial Supervisory Commission, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications in Taiwan. Since May 2023, the LINE Taiwan team has handled over 110,000 fraudulent accounts and, in collaboration with TWNIC and the three major telecom operators, has taken down more than 1,000 phishing domains, reducing the average takedown time to under 24 hours.
